Campaign for a Welsh internet domain.

A new campaign calling for a '.cym' domain for the Welsh language and culture has just launched. A .cym domain would allow Welsh websites or websites about Welsh culture to use .cym instead of .com, .co.uk, .net . It would also make it possible to have email addresses ending with .cym

.

The campaign must show that it has strong support before important meetings in London and Brazil next month where the body responsible for deciding which domain names should exist (ICANN) will discuss whether or not to allow other minority languages and cultures to follow Catalonia's lead (they successfully campaigned for a .cat domain) and have their own domain names.

If you would like to see the Welsh language and culture acknowledged on the World Wide Web then
sign the online petition.
